Former Representative Mary Peltola of Alaska did not appear to be happy that former Vice President Kamala Harris put out a fund-raising appeal on her behalf. Ms. Harris lost the 2024 presidential election in Alaska by 14 points.
A law passed in 2012, the STOCK Act, emphasizes that insider trading is illegal among lawmakers, as it is for the general public, and requires them to periodically disclose trades of shares held by them and members of their families.
The president has been focused on the race since the death of Lindsey Graham in July. Ms. Graham, the late senator’s sister, is competing against Representative Ralph Norman in a runoff on Aug. 25.
