The plane’s crew reported mechanical problems and low fuel as they flew to Austin, Texas, from Mexico. Five of the six people on board survived the crash in Laredo.
Investigators are just beginning to determine what went wrong, but the Air Force has struggled to maintain the planes, which were first introduced in 1955.
